Possible Variations
- Don't blink, wink. If you want only one eye to go off when you activate trigger zero so that you "wink" instead of "blink", you can achieve that easily by attaching one red wire from an LED to the B (blink) terminal and the other to the S (steady) terminal.
- I don't need to blink or wink, give me more sounds!
Attach both red LED wires to the S (steady) terminal and load the sound board with the 4-sound file set.
- I don't like the Jawa sounds you picked, give me different ones! This one you can do without wiring changes because the sounds that are played are solely determined by the contents by the files stored on the FX board. All you have to do is load different sound files onto the board by attaching the board to a computer with a micro USB cable. You actually have a lot of options in that any particular trigger (remote control button) can trigger a single sound, play a random sound from a set, sequence through a set of sounds, or set an audio file playing until the same button is pressed again. Again, details are on the Adafruit web site: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-audio-fx-sound-board/triggering-audio
- Three or even four sound triggers are not enough for me, can I have a 2nd glove? Absolutely, just solder a 2nd remote control receiver into the "optional" receiver location on the mother board. Pair a new remote and you're good to go. Load up sounds or sets of sounds for those triggers and you can have a jawa conversation with anyone.
- I'm a Tusken Raider and I'm jealous, can I have a sound system? Sure. You can build the electronics part above and install it into anything. Leave off the eyes, the fans or both, load the FX board with the right sounds and figure out the physical mounting in your bucket and you're ready to go. Actually, DZ-61970 will be doing this in his Tusken as soon as the GJH build is done. You can also adapt the control glove to different setups, including the Gaffi stick arrangement mentioned in "Control System Build" above, putting buttons on a blaster, etc. Go wild.
- I'm an off-world Jawa, what about me? We were focused on Tatooine Jawas for this build, so that's what we've specified. But if you want to substitute red eyes, maybe different eye covers to meet the CRL, maybe use different sounds (Jawaese with an Arvala-7 accent?), have at it. We don't have a parts list or a set of sound files for you, but we're confident you can handle it and hope we've provided enough info to start you on your way.
